Alice Foxen’s ceramic sculpture is formed from the memories she collects of encounters with roadside waste. Soft objects found discarded on the street. These once domestic objects have been left to lean and droop, taking on a new life and character for Alice. She finds a quiet beauty in these plump forms.

Walking in her home city of London, Alice finds an endless amount of these unwanted belongings. These meetings with found objects are her personal connection with public space.  Through many layers of meditative process and material testing she attempts to capture the spark of that first meeting.

There is an uncanny playfulness to Alice’s work. The soft creases of fabric and foam are captured in surprising ceramic, holding the viewer in their own moment of encounter with form and surface.
